Presbyopic IOLs

Recent advances in intraocular lens (IOL) technology have made it possible to decrease or eliminate the need for glasses at ALL distances after cataract surgery. Depending on the lens implant chosen, 25-85% percent of patients never have to wear glasses after cataract surgery.

These lens implants are known as upgraded luxury lenses and entail an additional upgrade charge. Dr. Lum has experience in using all three of the luxury lenses and can help you choose the right one for your lifestyle.

 *    Crystalens® is the only accommodating IOL and was designed to move forward and backwards, much like the natural crystalline lens.

The crystalens accommodating intraocular lens is engineered with a hinge designed to allow the optic, or part of the lens that you see through, to move back and forth as you constantly change focus on images around you.

*    The ReZoom™ intraocular lens is a second-generation refractive multifocal IOL that provides cataract patients with greater independence from glasses than standard IOLs.

The ReZoom™ Balanced View Optics™ technology distributes light over five optic zones so that each lens has a distance-dominant central zone for distance vision in bright light conditions when the pupil is constricted.

*    The AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL was designed to provide quality near to distance vision by combining the strengths of apodization and diffraction. Similar technology has been used for years in microscopes and telescopes to improve image quality, and has now been patented for use in intraocular lenses by Alcon.
